Back in the former U.S.S.R., classic rock band "Prosto" ("Simply") was finding it hard to Portland's Russian sister city Khabarovsk. The band's sponsor pulled out at the last minute, the airport wouldn't issue tickets and the plane wasn't leaving because of fuel shortages. But luckily, a certain embassy official was a Who fan, so rock'n'roll was saved the day as guitarist Dmitry Barmin, a former Lewis and Clark exchange student, and his group finally made it to San Francisco, where L & C students picked them up and brought them to Portland. Crazy, no? Prosto plays originals and covers, like CCR's "Suzie Q" 9:30 p.m. Friday at the Dakota Cafe (239 S.W. Broadway).
